Wunder Runes is an upcoming mobile learning game devoted to the runic alphabets. It turns historical study into short, replayable challenges designed for both first-time learners and practiced enthusiasts.

People curious about runes often encounter an app ecosystem dominated by fortune-telling, modern esotericism, and claims detached from historical evidence. That leaves surprisingly few inviting tools for learning how runes actually worked—or for discovering their place in the history of the written word across Northern Europe.

Wunder Runes is designed to help fill that gap. It does not use runes for divination, present modern spiritual interpretations as ancient fact, or rely on spurious sources. Its focus is educational: introducing the documented alphabets, their letter forms, sounds, words, and historical settings in a format that makes learning feel playful.

The project keeps the wonder while leaving faux history behind. You do not need to adopt a neo-pagan worldview—or any worldview—to appreciate these remarkable writing systems and the people who used them.

The browser edition lets you explore Younger Futhark through alphabet and rune-word games, scored rounds and unlimited practice, dictionaries, daily facts, local profiles, and progress tracking.

It offers a playable look at the experience while the mobile app continues toward release. Elder Futhark and Anglo-Saxon Futhorc are available to unlock as purchases in the mobile app.
